Travis A. Butler – President

Travis A. Butler is Founder and President of Butler Properties and Development. He has been the President or Managing partner of over twenty companies and Partnerships. Mr. Butler’s companies have acquired and developed over 1,000,000 square feet of retail developments. Mr. Butler graduated from The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, GA and from the University of Georgia with a degree in Economics.
In 2002, Mr. Butler joined the commercial real estate brokerage firm of Colliers Keenan, Inc. in Columbia, SC where he cut his teeth in the industry during his four-year tenure. During that time, Mr. Butler was appointed to the Board of Directors of the City Center Partnership where he served until 2005. Consequently, in April 2005, the City Council of Columbia appointed Mr. Butler to the Design Development Review Commission, which acts as the architectural review board for the City of Columbia where he served until January, 2009. In 2009, Mr. Butler was appointed to the Long Range Planning Committee for City Center Partnership, where he served until 2015.

In 2011, then United States Congressman J. Gresham Barrett ran for Governor of South Carolina and appointed Mr. Butler as the Treasurer of his campaign. Mr. Butler maintained all finances of the campaign and served as a financial advisor and consultant to Congressman Barrett.

In the fall of 2015, Mr. Butler moved his family and his company to Athens, GA, where he is very involved with the University of Georgia in the following capacities:

  • He serves on the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business Alumni Board
  • He served on the University of Georgia’s Alumni Association Board
  • He serves on the University of Georgia’s Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s Board of Directors
  • He serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the G Network (formerly known as the Paul Oliver Network), a special committee appointed by former Head Coach Mark Richt to work with former UGA football players, once they become player ineligible, to help them transition into business careers
  • He is a Class of 2017 University of Georgia 40 under 40 award recipient

Additionally, Mr. Butler is involved in the Athens community on several other boards:

  • He served on the Board of Deacons at Classic City Church
  • He served on the Board of Directors of Athens Little League
  • He serves on the Board of Directors of Athens Touchdown Club
  • He serves on the Board of Directors of Athens Classic, a nonpartisan community nonprofit focused on public safety, public education and public health

Mr. Butler also enjoys memberships with Athens Country Club, Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club, DeBordieu Colony, Athens Touchdown Club, Athens Rotary, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and Urban Land Institute.
